Logistics and Summer Planning

Logistics

  • My role in the district's gifted program includes teaching & facilitating gifted education at the middle school.
  • This year my seminar students are assigned to Inspiration, Imagination, Masterminds, Excel, Omega, Trailblazers, Legacy, Revolution and Voyager teams in the middle school.

  • The seminar classroom is on the second floor, room 243.

  • Students will attend seminar classes on a weekly basis. Students involved in an independent study will meet in addition to the regularly scheduled seminar sessions. Students will also be able to work in the seminar room during free time in the morning, academic periods, and available 8th periods.

Planning Ahead:

  • Students entering grades 8-12 may apply for Millersville University's Summer Science & Math Program. This program is designed for academically talented science and math students. Visit their Website for more information. The school receives information in the spring. Please contact me by phone or email if you are interested in this opportunity.

  •  PA College of Art and Design (Lancaster) offers summer and Saturday courses in visual and digital art.

  • Johns Hopkins offers summer course work to talented students. Typically they require students to take the SAT to assess eligibility.

  • LIU Academy offers summer courses for gifted and talented middle school students. Information and applications are distributed by the guidance office. Typically this is near the end of December. Notification will be over the school announcements. STEM appears to be the focus of classes.

  • Students in grades 3-12 may apply for Millersville University Technology Camp . This is a summer program with innovative opportunities.

  • Camps through Carnegie Mellon. This offers summer and weekend programs. There are a variety of science, math, and computer programs offered.
