Electronic Device Rule

Electronic Devices – Student Policy Statement

The Dallastown Area Middle School's electronic devices rules are as follows: Students are not permitted to carry cell phones, digital cameras, iPods, or other electronic games with them during school hours. We do, however, recognize that students may have a need for these before school or after school in order to communicate with parents/guardians. Should a student need to call home during the day, a telephone is available in the main office.

When a student is found carrying any electronic device during the school day, it will be confiscated and locked in the office. A parent must pick up the device at a time convenient to them and during our regular office hours (office hours 7:00 AM to 4:15 PM). The item will not be sent home with the student. The second and all subsequent violations will result in confiscation with pick-up by parent/guardian or parentally designated adult and an after school detention.

Please understand that this is necessary, as phones, IPods, camera, or other electronics are a distraction to the teaching and learning process and are not necessary in the classroom. In addition, we cannot be responsible if the item is broken or stolen. We do appreciate your help in reinforcing these rules with your child.

Respectfully,

Chad Bumsted

Dallastown Middle School Principal
