Swimming

Swimmer

Middle school students have the opportunity to take swimming as part of the Middle School's Health and Physical Education program. Swim class will be separated by gender. The swimming unit will last for 3 to 4 six day school cycles in the 3rd trimester and students are expected to participate fully.

Students will need to supply their own bathing suit, towel, and deck shoes (flip-flops). Goggles and bathing caps are optional. For boys, any pair of swim trunks or speedos is acceptable. For girls, the bathing suit MUST be a one-piece. Tankinis and bikinis will NOT be accepted. This is non-negotiable. If a student is unable to buy/get an appropriate suit, one will be provided by the school.

For students who need to be excused from swimming, a note must be supplied. Boys are expected to swim each day, but if a medical necessity arises, a parent/doctor excuse must be provided. Girls may be excused for up to 3 classes. If it is due to menstruation, a parent note will suffice. If it is for an extended illness, a doctor's note is required. REMINDER: a parent note will only excuse a student for one day.

The suits shown below are examples of acceptable bathing suit.
