WELCOME TO OUR ELA CLASS!
My name is Mrs. Connors, and I’d like to officially welcome you to Team Velocity and to our language arts class. This will be an exciting class and we’re going to learn so much together. And, as a result, you’re going to do very well. As we work together this year, you’ll come to learn that I have high expectations for each and every one of my students. I expect that you will be respectful and responsible and that you will work hard to learn, grow, and improve. You can expect the same attributes from me. As your teacher, it is my job to challenge you, to keep you safe, and to support you in a way that helps you find success. I’m so glad you’ve joined our team, and I cannot wait to get to know all of you and to have some fun while we learn together!
ELA CLASS MATERIALS
Every day, I expect each student to arrive to class on time with his/her Chromebook, language arts binder, assignments, a pencil or pen, and a reading book. We will use our Chromebooks regularly in class.
Suggested Materials:
- Coloring utensils (markers, crayons, or colored pencils)
- Highlighter(s)
- 3-ring binder with three dividers (labeled reading, writing, graded)
- I often provide paper copies of texts and notes.
- If you need any of these supplies, please let me know.
- If you have a different organizational system that works for you, that's okay too!
ELA CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
We are all here for you—for you to succeed and to enjoy this class and your 7th grade experience. Because I care about the well-being of each of you, we are going to learn about the behavioral expectations and classroom procedures that will lead to your success. No one— not you, not a classmate, not an adult— has the right to interfere with your learning, so we will discuss and practice our classroom expectations and procedures throughout the school year.
