Miss Smith's Welcome

Miss Smith

Welcome to Dallastown Area Middle School's HPE website.

I am Miss Smith and I grew up in a very small town called Towanda, which is located in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating in 1993, I attended Wheeling Jesuit University as an undecided major. I taught swimming lessons as a summer job in high school and college and finally realized that this was my calling. I transferred to Lock Haven University majoring in Health and Physical Education and finally graduated from the program in 1999. After my time at Lock Haven, I was offered a job here at Dallastown Middle School which I happily accepted. I've been here ever since and haven't looked back!

I have been involved with many programs in the district, from coaching to volunteering and chaperoning. I have coached swimming for every age group and softball at the high school level. I help with intramurals and chaperoning middle school events, such as GOLD. Presently, I help with several of our high school athletic events - from football games to track meets. I enjoy seeing my old students bloom into productive and successful young adults.

Personally, I enjoy a variety of activities such as reading, biking, walking, downhill skiing, swimming, and playing board games. Most importantly, I am always looking forward to any time I can spend with my family and friends.

I hope you've had a wonderful summer break and are excited about your time here at the middle school. I'm looking forward to meeting you soon!
