Dr. Kevin A. Peters

Dr. Peters originally did not pursue a career in education. After graduating from York College with a degree in Criminal Justice, he worked with adolescents at a juvenile boot camp for almost three years. His experiences working with adolescents at the juvenile boot camp cemented his passion for supporting students.

After Dr. Peters was diagnosed with cancer and began his treatment, he resigned from his position to focus on his recovery. Near the end of his treatment, a former colleague approached him about an open position at an alternative school in the School District of the City of York. Accepting this opportunity sparked his career in education.

Dr. Peters spent five years as an Emotional Support Teacher at Hannah Penn Middle School teaching sixth through eighth grade students prior to transitioning to Central York School District as a Special Education Instructional Advisor (K-12). He entered the field of educational administration when he accepted a position as the Assistant Principal of Red Lion Area Junior High School. He served in this position for five years before becoming Principal of the same school.

Having never had any experience working with students outside of a middle school, Dr. Peters decided to become the Principal of Larry J. Macaluso Elementary School in the same district. He gained valuable experience working with students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

In February 2018, Dr. Peters became Principal of Dallastown Area Middle School. He is excited to again support middle school students as they begin their journey from elementary school to high school.

Dr. Peters holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from York College of Pennsylvania, a Masters Degree in Special Education from McDaniel College, and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from Temple University. He resides with his wife, two boys, and Marley (his golden doodle). On the weekends, you will most likely find him attending his sons' basketball, lacrosse, and soccer games. He enjoys his morning workouts that get him ready for the day.
