Social Studies

The middle school social studies curriculum contains a diverse array of topics and areas of study. The seventh grade curriculum focuses on ancient civilizations and cultures. The time span the students explore begins with prehistoric man and ends with the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution. The ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Medieval Europe are thoroughly examined. In eighth grade, students experience United States History beginning with the study of Native Americans and ending with the end of reconstruction. The curriculum is technology based and uses many Internet and computerized resources. The thrust of all three curricula is to make students more aware of the world around them and to reflect on how the different cultures of the world have influenced and shaped our American culture.
